Three Football Awards for George Neill

Three Football Awards for George Neill

Football Academy first team striker George Neill took home all three football awards at the recent end of year SGS College Sports Academy Awards.

On the night George was selected as Players’ Player of the Year, Top Goal Scorer and the coveted Manager’s Player of the Year.

This achievement was all the more impressive considering that George was in his first year at SGS College.

Speaking after the awards, Head of the Football Academy David Hockaday gave some insight into why George was chosen as a recipient for the awards.

“George is a big striker who is quicker than he looks. He has done exceptionally well in his first year and scored 45 goals for the college team and for Bristol Academy on Saturday and has lots of assists as well. His academics in Level Three Sports are strong.

“For the Manager’s Player of the Year, you want someone who is reliable and gives everything to improve and shows intelligence.

He is a very good player and is very popular with the players. He is also very bright and switched on. If we do a coaching session, he is one of the first who gets it straight away so he starts moving people about. George has done that throughout the season and it is unusual for a first year and also for a forward to do that.

“George has been so consistent and he is always a threat on the field and he shows up every day. He’s bright, he’s enthusiastic and he has everything to be a pro.

“There is lots of interest from pro clubs because of his goal ratio. If he can build on last season and improve this coming season, he is going to really surprise a lot of people.”
