Top-Class Facilities

The Netball Academy, one of the original sporting academies, has been operating at SGS College for the best part of 15 years.

Presently, the team competes in the AOC South West Northern League in addition to local school and colligate tournaments in the South West.

Currently there are 10 girls in the Netball Academy, which has a primary aim of recruiting more numbers to the roster in the next few years; from players who have played at county level right down to players who want to develop their understanding and love of the sport.

At SGS, we boast a terrific professional standard court and training facilities in addition to a state-of the-art gym.

High level Coaching

The squad trains three times a week under England Performance Pathway coach Lara Gulotta, who is a Level Two qualified netball coach. The girls also receive supervised strength and conditioning  core and gym sessions and have access to full-time physios on site to help with injury avoidance and rehabilitation.

The Netball Academy offers prospective student athletes a chance to continue their education while playing and training to a high standard. A number of girls also receive coaching and netball umpiring qualifications while partaking in the academy.

SGS College also hosts the end of season tournament for the local junior teams and from the beginning of next season will sponsor the Avon Junior Netball League.

The Netball Academy has had individual and team success over the last 15 years with many students progressing to play at university.

Former England international and SGS Netball Academy Head Coach Tamsin Greenway currently works as the Head Coach of Wasps, which competes at the top of the Vitality Super League.

In addition, former Netball Academy student, Denika Campbell-Lee played for Hertfordshire Mavericks and Bath in the Super League.
